THE LANGUAGE OF COLOR

New York, NY

The Language of Color is a non-profit initiative that aims to help autistic individuals to express themselves, improve their ability to build and sustain relationships, and reveal artistic talents. We do all these through art ! When serving individuals with ASD, we focus on their strengths and address areas of challenge. The main focus of our initiative is to support autistic individuals and help them to acquire novel skills and improve existing strategies, thus facilitating communication and social interaction. Holding painting sessions at various Centers for Autism allows us to support a greater number kids struggling with ASD. By reducing barriers to participation in artistic activities, we help autistic individuals to build connections and improve social skills.

Founder, Co-President

My name is Denys and I've recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Apart from my scientific background, I'm very interested in art. I've spent many hours working at different art studios and met a number of brilliant amateur artists. Many of them were autistic. Not only they created great works of art, but also benefited from the effects that art has on ASD. Painting has a soothing effect and helps us to understand and learn the perspective of others.
